Bandages For The Heart
When you were young and got hurt you ran to get a band-aide to close the wound.
As you got older the band-aides grew larger as did your wounds.
You do not run for them, you jog.
As years go by we stop jogging to close the wound and let it bleed for a while
until it becomes intolerable, only then do we bandage it closed.
We soon stop jogging to fix our wounds.
A trudging walk leads us to the box of bandages waiting to wrap our wounds tighter.
The wounds fester, leaking everywhere by the time we think it intolerable.
Except now the wounds cannot simply be bandaged tight, for they are
too deep, too infected to be cleansed by a cloth wrap..
